the garden is planted- despite the fire ants

The garden is planted!!! Yay!! it was seriously so. much. fun.

The only non-fun part happened in the middle of the day, when I went to spread the Miracle Grow soil on top of our regular soil. I dumped half the bag in the garden plot, swept my hand around in it to start spreading it around, and all of a sudden, fire ants just started exploding out of the garden plot. Thousands started instantly swarming everywhere. I screamed, grabbed Brody who was digging in the dirt with me, and ran all the way up to the front yard.

Praise the Lord, neither of us got bit. But I spent a few hours trying to drowned and/or poison these little flesh eaters (aw man... my skin and scalp are itching even as I write this... I have imaginary fire ant syndrome). I also spent that time trying to keep Brody from eating that poison... so it was a bit eventful. Definitely nothing that I had encountered in Ohio before.

But thankfully, the fire ants are all gone and my garden got planted. Gardening is my greatest "extracurricular" joy in life. It soothes my heart and soul like nothing else does.

As the famous quote goes, "Gardening- it's cheaper than therapy and you get tomatoes."

 a few tomato plants

And... how many pics does it take to get a decent one??
sometimes, quite a few

and... I think this is the best one we got.

spring is here!

I have so many stories i want to blog about, but this week has been absolutely crazy busy for me. I'll hopefully get to blog some this upcoming week about things going on, but for now, I just wanted to say....

SPRING is HERE!!!!

and it's absolutely gorgeous! The yard is beautiful, with lots of things blooming and flowering. Dad Meade and Andrew built a garden plot yesterday, so I'm planting my garden today (oh my- my garden is truly my happy place)!! I get goosebumps just thinking about gardening.

If we don't have somewhere we need to go, we are outside. All day, every day. And it's just glorious.

 my hard-working husband

There's a snowball hydrangea bush in the backyard, and I simply can't take my eyes off it. It's breathtaking.

my beloved garden, which will be planted later today, Lord willing!

Dad Meade, Andrew, and Jasper went fishing this morning... in the CANOE! Jasper's in heaven!

Apparently, Georgia has this stuff called pollen. I'm not sure if that's what's on top of our cars, but there's something on top of our cars from the pine trees.

 Our little linebacker.

And... eating the pollen. Or the baby pine cones. Whatever those things are.
