ladders

Jasper and I were at the thrift store the other day, and it was the super sale day where everything was 50% off in the whole store. I let Jasper pick out any toy he wanted, and he picked out this huge, broken, nasty dump truck with this broken ladder that sorta ascends up. Well, this is Jasper's first exposure to a "ladder" (it's like 3 inches tall) and all evening on Sunday, he kept "climbing" the ladder. He would literally put his feet on it and try to climb it, only to have the truck tip over, Jasper fall off, and then he would whimper that  it's "tippy" (aka tispy).

I thought he would stop after climbing his 3 inch ladder one or two times. Nope. My son has inherited my stubborn streak and he kept climbing and kept climbing. Hence, he kept falling and kept falling.

Andrew, being the great dad that he is, told Jasper that we have a real-life Jasper and would Jasper like to go out and see it with him? (see, he's a great dad!)

Jasper. was. in. heaven.

Our ladder is rather short and stocky, but it makes for a great ladder for a toddler to climb. So Andrew helped Jasper climb and climb last evening. And climb some more.

Did I mention that Jasper was in heaven???

This morning, as I got J out of his bed, his first words to me were, "baber! ladder! climb!!!" ("baber" is how he says his name.)

Since the ladder is kept high on the rafters in the garage, far above my reach, I told Jasper that we would text daddy and see if Daddy could help Jasper climb the ladder when he got home from work. Andrew's instant text reply was:

"Sure, son! I would love to help you climb the ladder when I get home."

So all day, Jasper was chanting, "dadda! home! Baber climb ladder! Dadda, home, Baber climb ladder."

All. day. long.

He couldn't stop thinking and talking about it.

As soon as Andrew's little car zoomed up the driveway, Jasper went sprinting out the side door, yelling "DADDA!!! HOME!! LADDER!!!!!!!!"

My whole life, I've dreamed of moments like this.

Of course I had to take pics tonight.
